Join us on Sunday, February 3, at 12:45 PM for a Canvass 2008 planning meeting. Be a part of the excitement as we develop a plan for a successful pledge season this spring. We’ll be forming a steering committee, but all levels of participation in this important effort are welcome, so come on by even if you just have some ideas! The location of the meeting will be upstairs in Rosemary’s office. For more information, please contact Liz Wolfe, Finance Committee Chair, at lwolfe@wintecgroup.com or 646.334.9427.
There will be a congregational meeting after the service on February 27 to vote on the ordination of Beth Putnam as a UU minister.
The congregation will also be asked to vote on which Congregational Study Action Issues should appear on the agenda this year at General Assembly. Two proposals have been accepted by the UUA Commission on Social Witness (CSW), which are being presented to the congregations for polling. They are:
- Ethical Eating: Food and Environmental Justice
- Nuclear Disarmament
If you are a member of 4th U, please make sure you are at the meeting on Sunday! Thank you.
The next meeting of the 4thU Finance Committee will be held on Thursday, January 17, at 6:30 PM. Anyone who is interested in supporting the financial well-being of our church is welcome to attend. For more information, contact Liz Wolfe at lwolfe@wintecgroup.com or 646.334.9427.

Next month’s New Moon Sister Circle (for women only) is convening on Monday, January 7 ,at 6:30 PM. Join us in a discussion of our principles and purposes on Sunday, Dec. 2, between 12:45 and 3:45 PM, led by Rev. Rosemary Bray McNatt and Denominational Affairs Chair, Ryan Novosielski.
The UUA bylaws mandate a periodic review of our Principles and Purposes so that we are able to continue our tradition as a living and dynamic faith. In 2006, at the request of the Board of Trustees, the UUA’s Commission on Appraisal agreed to launch this review. The Commission invites Unitarian Universalist congregations to participate in the process. This will be the last workshop on this topic, the first having been completed last spring, and the second one in November. After this workshop, your feedback presented at this series will be submitted to the commission for review.
Since the UUA is an association of congregations, and since the prelude to the Principles makes it clear that it is a covenant among the congregations, it is important that we, as a UU congregation, make our opinions known about these texts.
There will be a meeting of the board of trustees at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 27.
